Shibu Onsen has nine public baths (public baths) that locals use every day.
The outdoor bath, which has been carefully protected since ancient times, is now open to guests staying at Shibu Onsen, allowing them to enjoy Japan’s hot spring culture.

About “Sotoyu”

Regarding the use of the Sotoyu

“Sotoyu” is a public bath. Shibu Onsen has nine public baths. Each outdoor bath is fed by 100% natural hot spring water.
The nine public baths are available for[only those staying at Shibu Onsen].
At each inn in Shibu Onsen, we will lend you a special key for visiting the public baths. Bathing is free.

Operating hours 6:00 ~ 22:00

※There may be times when it is not available for use, such as during cleaning.

Caution

The source of Shibu Onsen is extremely hot! Please be careful not to get burned.
Because the water is fed directly from the source, it may become too hot to enter unless you adjust the temperature.
Please observe etiquette when using the facility.
This is a shared hot spring. It is attended by a variety of guests and local residents.
Please follow good manners and take a pleasant bath.

Guests who are not staying at Shibu Onsen can only use Kubanyu Oyu.

Nine public bath tour

Tour the public baths, each with a different source and efficacy, while stamping a prayer towel.
The historic appearance of the outdoor baths, finding the hot water with the texture you like, and talking with the people in the bathtub are the real pleasures of touring nine hot springs. Enjoy Japan’s long-standing hot spring culture.

Prayer towel

Let’s go around while stamping the prayer towels outside each public bath. Finally, if you visit Shibutaka Yakushi and receive a seal, your wish will be fulfilled.
It is said to have the benefit of washing away hardship, warding off evil spirits, safe childbirth, and longevity.
*Prayer towels are sold at each inn.

In yukata and geta

Please go to the public bath in a yukata and geta.
Enjoy touring the hot springs and enjoy the atmosphere of the hot spring town.
